Can Christians Wear Polyester?

The book of Leviticus explicitly prohibits the wearing of mixed fabrics (along with planting two types of seed in a field and cross breeding animals) and yet most "Bible Believing Christians" don't think twice before wearing polyester... Why? Why did the Bible have this prohibition in the first place and what relevance does any of this have for Christians today?

Is it always clean and simple? Do we always come up with definitive “the Bible says XYZ” answers? Nope. But if it was, it wouldn’t be worth engaging.
